AFCON 2023: Jose Peseiro reveals one thing Osimhen should do to help Super Eagles win title

Head Coach of the Super Eagles, Jose Peseiro is confident that Napoli's talisman, Victor Osimhen can help Nigeria win the fast-approaching Nations Cup.

Osimhen, 25, was the top scorer in the qualifiers with 10 goals to his credit including a double brace against Sao Tome and Principe in June 2022.

Fans and the team are expecting much from the Serie A top scorer who was recently crowned the Best African Player of The Year.

Speaking at the coronation organized to celebrate Osimhen's CAF Award, Jose Peseiro backed the former Lille striker to clinch the tournament's top scorer award which could culminate in Nigeria winning the ultimate trophy.

“From our team, he (Osimhen) was the highest goal scorer during the qualifiers,” Peseiro said at a dinner organised to celebrate Osimhen’s coronation as Africa’s best player at the team’s training base in Abu Dhabi on Friday night.

“Of course, his teammates helped him to achieve that. I hope and wish he wins the highest goal scorer and help us win the tournament,” the Portuguese gaffer added.

Nigeria are drawn in Group A with host Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau.
