2023 was a year of triumph for Nigeria's striking sensation, Victor Osimhen.

Scudetto triumph

Osimhen guided Napoli to their first Scudetto title in 33 years after the Naples-based club clinched the league title in May with five matches to spare.

The 25-year-old scored the all-important equalizer as Luciano Spalletti's side played a one-all draw away at Udinese to confirm their status as the new champions in Italy.

Serie A top scorer

The Super Eagles striker netted an astonishing 26 goals in 31 Serie A appearances to win the Capocannoniere award beating Inter's captain, Lautaro Martinez to the award.

Osimhen also made history by becoming the first African star to win the Serie A Golden Boot award.

The African star with most Serie A goals

The Nigerian international also surpassed George Weah's 19-year record by becoming the African Player with the most Serie A goals.

Osimhen became the African player with the most Serie A goals after scoring from the spot in Napoli's 1-0 victory over Fiorentina on May 7.

Weah, who featured for AC Milan from 1995-2000 netted 46 goals Rossoneri.

Best striker in Serie A

Following his explosive form for Napoli, the 25-year-old was adjudged the Best Striker in Seria A after scoring 26 goals in 31 outings.

Osimhen netted 31 goals across all competitions for the Partenopei at the end of the 2022/2023 season.

Ballon d'Or top 10

The Napoli Starman was the only African to finish in the top ten at the 2023 Ballon d'Or ceremony.

The Super Eagles finished in 8th position behind Lionel Messi, Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappé, Kevin De Bruyne, Man City Rodri, Vinícius Júnior and Julián Álvarez.

Wins African Best Player Award

The boy who hails from the streets of Olusosun in Lagos ended the year on a high note after he was crowned the Best African Player of the Year at the CAF ceremony in Marrakech, Morocco.

He became the first Nigerian to claim the award since Nwankwo Kanu in 1999. Osimhen's remarkable campaign throughout the year was awarded the finest accolade on the continent as Nigeria swept most of the awards on the night.
