Super Falcons Head Coach Randy Waldrum has disclosed that there are some injury concerns at the Super Falcons camp as the team prepares for the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.

The American gaffer however expressed optimism ahead of the Falcon's group opener against Canada.

Speaking to the NFFTV at the team's training base in Gold Coast, Australia, the 66-year-old said he is confident about the team's chances of qualifying from the group.

He added that the team is focused on getting a good result in their group opener to set the tone for the remainder of the group matches.

“I’m confident because we have talent, we’ve always said that. Over these 10 days of training if we can get them organise the way we want especially defensively so we have every opportunity to be successful, I believe in the players, Waldrum told NFFTV.

Responding to the question on injury concerns, Waldrum said “Couple of knocks, couple of injuries that concern me a little bit but outside of that they are healthy so it’s all about their performances and how they play.”

“I’m confident because we have talent, we’ve always said that. Over these 10 days of training if we can get them organise the way we want especially defensively so we have every opportunity to be successful so I believe in the players.

“I’m confident we will make it out of the group stage, all the focuses have been on Canada and we know how important that first match is going to be for us and we need to get something out of it but it doesn’t mean the end of our group play but it will be a very big start for us to get something out of that match.

“I know the players can do it and the most important thing is the players are very confident of getting something out of the match.

The nine times African champions will take on Olympic champions Canada, hosts Canada, and debutants Republic of Ireland in the group stages.
