Fans of the English Premier League have taken to social media to react to Mohamed Salah's post after Manchester United beat Chelsea to end Liverpool's hopes of a Champions League finish.

The Red Devils thrashed Chelsea 4-1 to move into third place and secure the last UEFA Champions League spot for England after Newcastle United confirmed their place on Tuesday with a draw against Leicester City.

With a game left, Liverpool are four points behind fourth place Newcastle United.

The Egyptian forward took to social media to establish his disappointment after failing to make it into Europe's elite club competition.

"I’m totally devastated. There’s absolutely no excuse for this. We had everything we needed to make it to next year’s Champions League and we failed. We are Liverpool and qualifying to the competition is the bare minimum. I am sorry but it’s too soon for an uplifting or optimistic post. We let you and ourselves down," Salah wrote on Twitter.

His post drew several reactions from fans of rival clubs, with some trolling the Reds for missing the UEFA Champions League.
