The International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) has released a list of the top 80-ranked men’s national football leagues in the world.

The recent reports shows the best football league in the world over the period between January 1, 2022, and December 31, 2022.

According to the reports, the Nigeria Professional Football League is ranked 9th in the continent.

The Egyptian Premier League, Algerian Ligue Professionelle 1, Moroccan Botola Pro 1, Sudan Premier League and the Tanzania Premier League make up the top 5.

The others are; South Africa Premier Division, Angolan Girabola and Tunisian Ligue Professionelle 1.

The Zambian Premier League occupies the 10th spot.

Ghana's betPawa Ghana Premier League missed out on a place among the best as Ghanaian clubs failed to make deep runs in the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup in the period under consideration, according to local media Ghana Report.

In the world, Africa had 10 leagues representing on the list with Egypt leading the way as the best-ranked league in Africa and ranking 13th in the world.

In the previous year, Egypt’s League ranked 14th in the world according to the IFFHS.

The Algerian league ranks 20th in the world while Morocco’s top light ranks 24th in the world and the Sudanese league ranks 33rd in the world.

The Nigerian League and Zambian league rank 77th and 79th in the rankings.
