Algerian forward, Riyad Mahrez has reacted to becoming the first African player to win the English Premier League five times.

The 32-year-old won the premier league title for the fifth time after Arsenal failed to beat Nottingham Forest in an earlier fixture.

Manchester City defeated Chelsea by a lone goal at the Etihad to win the trophy for the third consecutive time.

Mahrez won his first English title with Leicester City in 2016, before adding four since moving to Manchester City.

He posted '#5', a trophy emoji, and also called on his fans to use the new heart colour via Twitter.

Mahrez has been an integral part of manager, Pep Guardiola's team this season and could add the UEFA Champions League and FA Cup titles to his laurels before the end of the campaign.

His hat-trick against Sheffield United helped City reach the final of the latter competition.

Meanwhile, the former African Player of the Year disclosed his banter with ex-teammate, Oleksandr Zichenko.

"I’m killing him!" he jokingly told beIN Sports, as quoted by Daily Post. "Yeah, I am always on the phone with him. He is my friend, so we are always joking about things and talking about stuff. But he is a bit sad at the moment, so I will wait until we lift the trophy, and then I will call him again."
