Italian Serie A champions Napoli have opened contract talks with Victor Osimhen in a fresh move to keep their talisman at the club amid keen interest from several clubs in Europe.

According to the club's official radio station, the club president Aurelio De Laurentiis is negotiating a new contract with the Nigerian international in his bid to extend his stay at the club.

Osimhen is currently valued at €100m as per transfermarkt and he is on the cusp of being crowned the top scorer in the Italian topflight with 23 goals with four matches remaining.

The 24-year-old joined the Naples-based side from Lille in 2020 for a fee of €75m plus add-ons, signing a five-year deal with the Serie A outfit.

The Super Eagles striker has reportedly been linked with a move to Manchester United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain.

Osimhen has been pivotal to Napoli's Scudetto triumph this season as his strike ended the club's 33-year wait for the title.

The Nigerian striker has also broken significant records in the league.

He became the first African player to score 22 Serie A goals in a single season to surpass Samuel Eto's previous record of 21.

Osimhen has also surpassed George Weah's record to become the Africa player with the most goals in Serie A.
