Despite being on a hat-trick, Victor Osimhen declined to take the spot kick which could have seen him complete his treble as Napoli dispatched Eintracht Frankfurt 3-0 to cruise to the quarterfinals of the UCL with a convincing 5-0 aggregate score on Wednesday night.

After giving the Serie A leaders the lead on the stroke of halftime following a perfect delivery from Matteo Politano down the right flank, the 24-year-old added his second on the night in the 53rd minute courtesy of Giovanni Di Lorenzo assist.

The Super Eagles striker could have added his third on the night from 12 yards after his side were awarded a penalty which was won and converted by Piotr Zielinski to make it 3-0 at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.

Explaining why he didn't take the spot kick, Osimhen said: “The penalty Zieliniski asked me if he could take it, of course I’m a team player it doesn’t matter who scores as long as the team achieves success. I know my goals will come with or without penalty.”

Osimhen became the first Napoli player to score in two legs in the knockout stage of an European competition.

Expressing his delight after their historic feat, Osimhen said,: "It feels good, it feels amazing, it feels good to make history with this win, we want to keep on going like this until the next round we are ready for it.”

The in-form Osimhen has so far netted 4 goals in 5 UCL appearances for Spalletti's side this season.
