U-17 WWC: Flamingos are unstoppable — Usani

Flamingos defender Miracle Usani believes no team can overcome Nigeria at the ongoing FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in India following their fairy-tale win against the United States in the quarterfinals.

Nigeria made history on Friday, October 21 after beating tournament favourites USA 4-3 in the penalty shootout at the PY Patil Stadium in Mumbai.

Usani converted one of the spot kicks but not without some controversy.

Her initial attempt was parried by US goalkeeper Valentina Amaral but she was handed another opportunity to redeem herself after a VAR review showed that the goalkeeper came off her line.

She made no mistake from the second kick as he scored to consolidate Nigeria's points before Ndafe stepped up to score the final kick.

“The game led me up to that moment. It ended up going to penalties and I needed to step up and take responsibility,” she told FIFA.com.

“I was so relieved after the game. I feel much better now, I’m so happy that I was given a second chance. I really wanted to score the second, so I’m happy.”

She added that Flamingos are capable of beating any other country after edging out the USA.

“I believe we can get to the final, if we can beat the USA, I don’t see any obstacle standing in our way.”

Nigeria will take on Columbia for a place in the grand finale on Wednesday, October 26.
