Ndidi's injury not a big deal - Amuneke

Wilfred Ndidi Wilfred Ndidi

Former Nigeria international Emmanuel Amuneke believes Wilfred Ndidi's injury is not a big blow to Nigeria and the Super Eagles team.

The ex-striker and winger believes the injury to the Leicester City defensive midfielder will create the opportunity for coach Jose Peseiro to test other players in his position.

He, however, added that Ndidi is a special player the team has missed so much due to his current injury situation which has kept him out of the squad for some time.

“Ndidi is a special player which the Eagles have missed in games, the ex-Barcelona player told PUNCH Sports Extra

“But this is friendly, and I believe it is a chance for some of the other players in that role to show themselves.”

The 26-year-old has been ruled out of the Algeria friendly after he sustained an injury at the Super Eagles camp in Constantine, Algeria.

The ex-Genk midfielder has travelled back to his base in England for further examination according to a statement by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Ndidi is yet to feature for Nigeria under Jose Peseiro.

He missed the World Cup qualifier doubleheader against Ghana in March, he also missed the Super Eagles two Nations Cup qualifiers against Sierra Leone and Sao Tome and Principe.
