Deji Ayeni relishes Sunshine Stars NPFL survival

Sunshine Stars Head Coach, Deji Ayeni is relieved after guiding the Club to safety in the Nigeria Professional Football League.

The Owena Whales were languishing at the relegation zone and were certain to go down, before Deji Ayeni was appointed to replace Gbenga Ogunbote who resigned from the position.

The former Ekiti United gaffer, hit the ground running almost immediately and finally seal their stay in the elite division with a 1-0 win over Rivers United on Thursday.

Speaking after the game, Ayeni said, he was optimistic about their chances staying up after looking at the table.

“Every individual should have a positive mindset. I studied the logwhen I took over and realised we had 14 matches left, believing ifwith 23 points we should be safe and today we have 24 points.”
