Yakubu not ready for National team call up

Goalkeeper Mathew Yakubu has stated that he is not thinking much about the Nigerian senior national team yet as all he is focused on is trying to keep the number one position at the club after a run of 5 clean sheets in the Slovakian topflight.

The 2019 All African Games Silver medalist said in a chat with  www.brila.net that he has the aspiration like other Nigerian players to represent the country at full international level but remain focused on how how to stay consistent at club level after edging the club’s first choice to the number one position in the last five games played by the club after the Bosnian shot-stopper conceded 6 on matchday one of the season.

“I think the national team every player is one of their dreams to play in the national team represent their countries and play well so I think if I’m giving the chance, I will do my best and every goalkeeper is good but you know that sometimes in football things like this happen about the current goalkeeping situation I don’t actually think it, I have to focus on what I’m doing now and when the call up come up then I will go and try to do my best but for now I keep working hard.”
