Yakubu Aiyegbeni’s miss against South Korea features on FIFA's top World Cup misses

Yakubu Aiyegbeni’s horrible miss against South Korea at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa has featured prominently as one of FIFA World Cup's big misses in history.

The former Nigerian striker failed to tap in from close range as his effort sailed wide off the righthand post in a game the Super Eagles were trailing by 2-1 in the final Group A game.

The former Everton man would later score from the spot, but his miss totally eclipsed his performance on the day as Super Eagles fans couldn't recover from the initial heartbreak.

Nigeria could have perhaps qualified for the round of 16 if Yakubu Aiyegbeni had scored.

In a compilation of big World Cup misses published by the football governing body via one of its official Twitter handle, the former Super Eagles striker's miss against the Asians was selected as one of the big misses in the Mundial.
