Popular Sports journalist, Oma Akatugba has reacted to Samuel Chukwueze's move from Villareal to Italian giants AC Milan.

In a video he shared on his Instagram account, he said that Chukwueze's move gives him absolute hope for Nigerian football.

According to Sky Sports Italia, only the final details are missing before the 24-year-old receives the go-ahead from the Yellow Submarine to travel to Italy for medical examinations.

"Wow, this is news that gets you very excited. It's here we go, Samuel Chukwueze of Nigeria is about to complete a massive transfer from Villareal Club of Spain to AC Milan. AC Milan guys! There are not just Italian giants but European giants. Congratulations Samuel, this makes me have absolute hope in Nigerian football," Oma Akatugba said.

"The good days are coming again where Nigerian footballers are playing for big Nigerian clubs," he added.

Football Today reports that Milan will pay around €20 million upfront plus an additional €8m in various performance-related add-ons, with the player set to sign a five-year contract.

During his five-year stint with Villarreal’s senior squad, Chukwueze made over 150 La Liga appearances, establishing himself as one of the division’s best-performing forwards.

Since he doesn’t have a European passport, the left-footed winger will fill the final non-EU spot at San Siro after Christian Pulisic occupied the first upon his arrival from Chelsea.
