World Cup: Suarez labels Uruguay's crunch clash against Ghana as 'do or die' affair

Luiz Suarez has sent a strong warning to Ghana ahead of Uruguay's crunch clash against the Black Stars in their final group game.

Ghana and Uruguay will be at each other's throats at the Al Janoub Stadium on Friday, December 2 in a mouth-watering encounter many Ghanaians have labelled as a revenge mission.

The two sides faced each other in the quarterfinals of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, a match Ghanaians will never forget after Luiz Suarez prevented Ghana's stoppage-time winner with his hands.

Ghana's legendary striker Gyan failed to convert the stoppage-time spot-kick to qualify the Black Stars for the semi-finals.

The Black Stars went ahead to lose in the shootouts as they failed to make history by becoming the first African team to reach the last 4 at the World Cup.

The West African side will have the chance to change the narrative when they face the same opponent this time in the group stage.

Uruguay have managed a single point after two games following a draw with South Korea and a defeat to Portugal.

The two-time world champions are also yet to score in the tournament and are desperately in need of a win to have any chance of qualifying for the last 16.

But the former Liverpool and Barcelona striker, Luiz Suarez has other ideas as he is confident his side can edge Ghana to secure a place at the knockout stages.

“We have one point and the final match against Ghana is do and die. We have no option other than to win to make our fans happy,” Suarez said as quoted by Football Ghana.

“We have watched their video clips and they have a porous defence, we will utilise that to beat them,” the 35-year-old added.

Ghana on the other hand will need either a win or a draw to progress to the next stage.
