Super Eagles striker, Taiwo Awoniyi has sent a goodwill message to the Super Falcons ahead of the start of the 2023 World Cup.

Coach Randy Waldrum will hope to lead the team to glory when they kick off their tournament in Australia/New Zealand.

Despite winning the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title on nine occasions, the Super Falcons have never gone past the quarterfinals final of the competition. In fact, their best finish was in 1999, when they reached the quarterfinal.

Since then, they have never gone past the round of 16 of the competition. However, they would be looking to do better this time around.

Nigeria’s first game is against Canada on the 21st of July, and ahead of the fixture, Awoniyi has sent his best wishes to the team

“I wish the Super Falcons all the very best in the World”, Awoniyi told Eagles tracker.

“I believe you can do it, and you’re going to make everyone in the country proud. Go girls!”

Nigeria will slug it out against Australia in the second game on the 27th of July. Then they will battle the Republic of Ireland in their last group stage game.
