Cristiano Ronaldo's partner Georgina Rodriguez is quite displeased with the decision by Portugal head coach Fernando Santos to start the 37-year-old from the bench against Switzerland on Tuesday, December 6.

The Selecao thrashed Switzerland 6-1 in the last round of 16 game at the Lusail Stadium to seal qualification to the quarters in the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo didn't make the starting line-up as coach Fernando Santos decided to start the five-time Ballon d'Or winner from the bench.

Goncalo Ramos, who replaced Cristiano Ronaldo in the starting XI scored a hat-trick as Pepe, Raphael Guerreiro and Rafael Leao grabbed the other goals to wrap up a comprehensive victory for the 2016 Euros winners.

Fernando Santos' decision was not welcomed by Georgina Rodriguez and some staunch Ronaldo fans.

The 28-year-old who was born in Bueno Aires took to her Instagram to aim a dig at the Portuguese tactician.

“Congratulations Portugal. While the 11 players sang the anthem, all eyes were on you. What a shame not to have been able to enjoy the best player in the world for 90 minutes.

“The fans did not stop asking for you and shouting your name. May God and your dear friend continue hand in hand and make us vibrate one more night.”

Ronaldo's only goal at the tournament came against Ghana from the spot in their group opener.

Portugal will take on Morocco for a place in the semi-final on Saturday, December 10.
