The festive season is definitely upon us, and people are embracing the spirit of the season.

Even football fans are getting in on the act, as was evident at the Molineux Stadium when Wolverhampton Wanderers took on Chelsea.

Supporters got into the Christmas spirit as they dressed up for the day, spreading festive cheer before the game. There were a few Santas on show, but the Grinch also made an appearance.

While one man went for a Turkey hat, others went for more Christmassy headgear.

There was also a not-so-subtle jab at VAR, which took inspiration from Ebenezer Scrooge.

The atmosphere around the ground paid off as Wolves held on for a 2-1 win to draw level on points with The Blues on the table. Chelsea are in 10th place while Wolves are in 11, just behind on goal difference.

The match was also scheduled for Christmas Eve by the Premier League, despite objections from both Wolves and Chelsea fanbases.

As noted by The Mirror, the decision was not a popular one, as both sets of fans voiced their unhappiness with the decision.

The Wolves 1877 Supporters' Trust said it demonstrated a complete lack of consideration and respect for fans.

Prior to Wolves taking on Chelsea, the last time an English Premier League game was held on December 24 was in 1995.

On that occasion, Leeds took on Manchester United and beat the Red Devils 3-1.
