Ahmed Musa, the captain of the senior national team has fired back at critics who have questioned his invitation to the national team and those who have called for his resignation.

Musa, who is the most capped player for the Super Eagles was invited by coach Jose Peseiro for the AFCON qualifiers games against Guinea Bissau.

Speaking in a pre-match interview, Musa said he believes in the right playing condition and will continue to honor any team call-up.

"All those people that are asking Musa to retire, when Musa was doing good, where were they? So definitely we know in our country that whoever they call, they have to talk. But I don't have to listen to anyone. I am the one doing my job and if my body tells me to stop, I will stop."

"But I am playing constantly in my club and I get a call-up to the national team, why do you want me to retire?"

“The coach who invited me knows better and as a patriotic Nigerian, I can’t decline my national team invitation after so much sacrifice."

“I don’t listen to those who are clamoring for my retirement. I remain focused on my career. Whoever is invited, people must talk, so, why should I listen to their comments”, he fired back at his critics.

Musa currently plays for Sivasspor in the Turkish league.

He has made 107 appearances for the Super Eagles.
