The Super Falcons' 2028 Olympic Games qualifying tie against Comoros will be an unusual one as both legs of the two-legged clash will be played at the same stadium, in the same city, just four days apart.
The Remo Stars Sports Stadium in Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State, has been confirmed as the venue for both fixtures, with the first leg scheduled for Friday, October 9, and the return leg following on Tuesday, October 13.
The reason is simple: Comoros, who are designated as the home side for this tie, do not currently have a CAF-approved stadium capable of hosting an international match, forcing the second-round qualifier to be staged entirely on Nigerian soil.
This effectively hands the ten-time African champions home advantage for both legs, despite Comoros officially being the host for the fixture.
The Super Falcons reached this stage of qualifying after receiving a bye into the second round as one of the three highest-ranked teams in the competition.
Comoros, meanwhile, progressed with a comprehensive 30-0 aggregate win over Sudan in the opening round.
Ahead of the tie, interim head coach Augustine Eguavoen, who is now in charge of the team on an interim basis after the departure of Justine Madugu, has invited 28 players for the qualifiers, with camp already underway in Ikenne.
Should Nigeria progress, they will face either Morocco or DR Congo in the third round of qualifying, with only two African teams able to book a place at the 2028 Los Angeles Games.
