The agent of Napoli’s Victor Osimhen Roberto Calenda insists it was the player’s decision to remain at Napoli this season.

Osimhen was linked with a potential move to Manchester United, in a swap deal involving Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes reportedly tried to convince Napoli to let the Nigerian leave for Manchester United in order to accommodate his client, who was desperate for Champions League football.

But the move didn’t work out and Osimhen stayed at Napoli.

The striker has been in good form for the Partenopei this season, scoring the winner against Bologna, and his agent, Roberto Calenda, spoke to Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli (via TN) about everything that transpired during the last transfer window.

“We haven’t found out now that Osimhen is the object of interest of many teams. But things are done in three: who sells, who buys, and the player.

“I was immediately clear this summer because I knew that there would be a fuse for news coming out of those who had other interests maybe. But me, the boy, and Napoli had clear ideas.

“With the talk of the departure, someone went wrong. It was Victor’s will to stay at Napoli and play in the Champions League that he won last year together with his teammates. Victor wanted just that: to have a great year with Napoli, between the league and the Champions League.

“He has a long contract with the blue club. The market is dynamic, but our will is to continue with Napoli and continue to do well,” He concluded.

Osimhen has scored four times and assisted twice in all competitions for Napoli this season, despite being side lined for a couple of weeks due to a hamstring injury.
