Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho has opened up on what informed his decision to join Leicester City from Manchester City.

The 26-year-old joined the Foxes from the Cityzens in the summer of 2017 after signing a five-year contract with the 2016 Premier League champions.

Iheanacho signed for Manchester City in 2013 after helping the Golden Eaglets win the U-17 FIFA World Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Despite enjoying his stay at the Etihad Stadium, the Taye Academy product disclosed that he didn't get enough playing time when Pep Guardiola took over from Manuel Pellegrini.

Iheanacho who was third on the pecking order after Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus moved to the King Power Stadium for a reported fee of £25m.

“Obviously, I didn’t get to play much but I was part of a big squad with brilliant players to win it was exciting, Iheanacho disclosed.

“There were a lot of them (quality players). Yaya Toure, Samir Nasri, Jesus Navas, David Silva and Vincent Kompany, who always talked to me and gave me advice,” he added.

The Super Eagle netted 21 goals in 64 appearances for Manchester City from 2015 to 2017.
