Why I invited my grandmother to the stadium - Boniface

Bayern Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface has lifted the lid on why he sent his grandmother to the Bay Arena to watch Leverkusen's Bundesliga clash against Borussia Dortmund on Sunday, December 3.

A video of the Nigerian striker introducing his grandmother to his teammates went viral following their 1-1 draw against Dortmund.

Another video also showed his grandmother celebrating in the stands after the Super Eagles striker scored the equalizer to salvage a point for Xabi Alonso's side.

Speaking in a post-match reaction, the 22-year-old disclosed that his grandmother has been supportive since he was young, and it is a blessing for her to see him play live.

“Obviously, it’s a blessing. She has been supportive since when I was younger and now, she gets to watch me play live for the first time, So, I’m happy to make it pro and that she’s alive to witness this moment,” Boniface told OmaSports TV.

Boniface has been remarkable since completing his €22m move to Leverkusen from Union SG in the summer.

The Nigerian international has managed 8 Bundesliga goals in 13 appearances for Leverkusen.
