Victor Osimhen has disclosed why he flew his Nigerian family from Lagos to Naples to witness Napoli's last home game of the season.

The Super Eagles star enjoyed a remarkable season last term as he guided the Partenopei to their first Scudetto title in 33 years.

Osimhen, 24, was the standout performer all season as he netted 31 goals in 39 appearances across all competitions for the Naples-based club.

To crown what was a brilliant campaign for the player and the club, Osimhen gave his family a treat as he flew them from Nigeria to Italy to witness the club's crowning moment.

Also, at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium were Osimhen's girlfriend, Stefanie Kim Ladewig, and his daughter, Hailey.

Osimhen scored from the penalty spot in what was his 26th league goal of the campaign to clinch the Capocannoniere award as Napoli beat Sampdoria 2-0 to wrap up their Serie A campaign in style.

Speaking on what informed his decision to fly his family from Nigeria to watch Napoli's last game of the season, the Super Eagles striker said:

“It feels good because it was important. I don't care how much it will take me. I don't even look at the amount it will cost me. I just want them to come there not just to celebrate but just to see how it feels coming from the slums to be where we are today.

“One of my sisters who has never been to Europe cried when she heard the fans scream my name after I scored that penalty. For me, it is a very huge win.”
