Former Nigerian goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama has explained why he didn't apply for the vacant Super Eagles coaching role.

The Super Eagles coaching role has been vacant since Portuguese gaffer José Peseiro left the position in February after guiding the team to the final of the African Cup of Nations in Cote d'Ivoire.

Several coaches both local and expatriates have expressed their interest in becoming the next head coach of the three-time African champions in writing.

Former internationals like Finidi George, Emmanuel Amunike and Sunday Oliseh have all reportedly expressed their interest in succeeding the former Sporting Lisbon manager.

Speaking to Afrik-Foot, the former Lille goalkeeper gave two reasons why he didn't apply for the role.

“For you to be able to coach the Super Eagles, you must be certified. That’s the minimum standard, the former Enyimba shot stopper said.

“That’s the number one reason, and then for the fact that I have been very busy developing and managing my hotel has taken a lot of my attention, and that business is the most important thing for me now.”
