Spanish giants FC Barcelona have reportedly pulled out of the race for the signature of Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen.

The Nigerian international has been on the radar of the Spanish champions as a potential long-term replacement for Polish striker Robert Lewandowski.

The Catalans' prime target has been Julian Alvarez of Atletico Madrid, but both clubs have so far failed to reach any agreement for the transfer of the Argentine international.

The Rojiblancos are unwilling to negotiate with their La Liga rivals and have dragged Barcelona to football governing body FIFA to be sanctioned.

The Blaugrana have reportedly been monitoring Nigeria's Victor Osimhen as an alternative should the club fail in their pursuit to sign Alvarez this summer.

However, pro-Barcelona newspaper Sport reports that the club will no longer be pursuing the Osimhen deal due to the huge transfer fee and salary demands.

Galatasaray signed Osimhen on a permanent deal from Napoli last summer in a deal worth €75 million and are currently unwilling to sell the player for a fee less than €150 million.

The deal becomes even more far-fetched when Osimhen's wage is taken into consideration.

The former Napoli striker earns around €15 million net per year at Galatasaray, plus bonuses — a fee and wage package Barcelona will be unwilling to match considering the club's financial woes in recent years.
