We've still not forgiven you for that miss — Nigerians tell Yakubu Aiyegbeni after recent social media post

Following his recent Easter post on social media, some staunch Super Eagles supporters took to social media to remind Yakubu Aiyegbeni of his terrible miss against South Korea at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

Regarded as one of the terrible misses at the premier football competition, the former Nigerian striker failed to tap in from close range as his effort sailed wide off the righthand post in a game the Super Eagles were trailing by 2-1 in their final group stage game.

The former Everton man would later score from the spot, but his miss totally eclipsed his performance on the day as Super Eagles fans couldn't recover from the initial heartbreak.

Nigeria could have perhaps qualified for the round of 16 if Yakubu Aiyegbeni had scored.

Thirteen years on, it appears the pain of that miss is still reverberating among many Nigerians as some fans took to social media on Monday, April 10 to remind the former Super Eagles striker of his unfathomable miss at South Africa 2010.

An Instagram user @Dawud yunus wrote, “Na one thing make me dey remember you all the time! That chance u missed against Korea ????????????????????????????????”

@Gominah Junior said, “We never still 4give that goal you miss ooo”

@obinna_samson_07 added, “Big Yak i don finally forgive for the heart break against Korea at the world ???? cup”

“Na today the goal you lose pain me. ????????????” @blaze_phobia said.

@adewale_wesco added, “I no go forgive you for that chance you miss against Korea boda yakubu”
