We could have scored 11 goals against Guinea-Bissau - Jose Peseiro

Head Coach of Super Eagles, Jose Peseiro believes Nigeria could have scored more goals in both legs against Guinea-Bissau if they had taken their chances.

The Super Eagles avenged their shocking defeat to the Wild Dogs of Africa with a lone goal courtesy of Moses Simon's spot-kick in the 30th minute.

The win means the Super Eagles are back on top of Group A with 9 points after four matches played.

It also means that the Jose Peseiro-led side has ended their four-game winless streak after defeats to Costa Rica, Algeria, Portugal, and Guinea-Bissau.

Sharing his thoughts on the game in a post-match interview, the Portuguese gaffer, Peseiro stated that his side could have scored more goals against their opponents in the two legs.

“We could have won 6-1 in Abuja and 5-0 here in Bissau today because we played better on Friday than today. But that’s football, sometimes you played better than your opponents but the result will show otherwise,” Peseiro in his post-match interview.

“We dominated the match more at home than today but we could not convert our scoring chances.”

The Super Eagles need just a win to qualify for the 2023 Nations Cup billed for Ivory Coast.

The team will return to action in June against Sierra Leone in the Nations Cup qualifiers.
