Akwa United defender, Samson Gbadebo has said he is excited with the progress the team has made this season.

With the club picking up a valuable point in Super Sunday’s clash with Plateau United at the New Jos Stadium, they are poised to claim their first league title.

The Promise Keepers are two points clear of their immediate competition, Nasarawa United who are breathing down their necks. They have secured 57 points from 31 games.

Reacting to the club’s interesting campaign, central defender Sampson Gbadebo revealed that he and his teammates are prepared to finish the job.

“This season is very interesting and encouraging for us at Akwa United, judging from how far we have come. So far, 31 matches have been played and we have few more games before the end of the season. We have put in a lot of work to get to where we are at the moment and we want to keep that momentum till the end of the season.

“The remaining matches are of huge significance and we don’t have to leave anything to chance at this point of the season. We need maximum concentration, dedication and focus from everyone as we approach the remaining matches.”

Akwa United have won 15 games , drew 11 draws and suffered just four loses in 31 matches, so far this season.

They also set a new club and NPFL record of going 18 games without a defeat in the course of this season.
