The senior Super Eagles players and staff treated new invitee Fisayo Dele-Bashiru to a nice welcome in their first training ahead of the international friendly games against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique.
Born in Hamburg, Germany, to Nigerian parents, Dele-Bashiru was eligible to play for Germany, Nigeria, and England. However, he chose to represent the Super Eagles.
The 22-year-old got his maiden call-up to the Super Eagles camp ahead of the games against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique. He was the only new invitee in Jose Peseiro’s 25-man squad.
The Super Eagles began training for the two games on Wednesday, and Dele-Bashiru was given a traditional welcome by the senior players and staff in their Portugal camp. As part of his welcome ceremony, Dele-Bashiru would also have to sing a Nigerian song in front of other players and staff during dinner.
The 22-year-old has a good shot at making his debut for Nigeria in one of the two upcoming games. The next two fixtures are inconsequential and would serve as a testing ground ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup in January next year in Cote d’Ivoire.
