Salah missed from close range against Guinea in the AFCON qualifiers

Liverpool forward, Mohamed Salah left fans speechless during the game between Egypt and Guinea in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Wednesday.

The prolific scorer endured a tough afternoon after making what could end up being the miss of the year following his inability to roll the ball into an empty net.

Salah had the golden opportunity to level for the Pharaohs just a minute after Guinea had taken the lead through Serhou Guirassy.

In a video shared on social media, Egypt winger Trezeguet forced a save from the Guinea goalkeeper with the ball falling right at the feet of Salah, who fired wide with an empty net right in front of him.

Meanwhile, the seven-time African champions recovered from conceding an early goal to win the game at the Stade de Marrakech.

Trezeguet scored the equalizer just before the break and with ten minutes remaining, Mostafa Mohamed netted the important winner as Egypt secured their qualification to the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, as reported by SuperSport.

Salah will be hoping to win the competition for the first time with Egypt after two final defeats, reported ESPN.
