Real Madrid are set to make Vinicius Junior the club’s highest-paid player after agreeing to extend the deal of the Brazilian forward following his impressive stint with the club.
The 23-year-old forward, whose current deal is set to expire in 2024, has grown in leaps and bounds since joining Los Blancos from Brazilian outfit Flamengo in 2018 as a teenager.
According to 90MIN, talks have been ongoing between Vinicius and Real Madrid over a new contract for much of this year, and terms were agreed in principle in the summer.
The Brazilian’s new bumper deal, which also features a release clause worth €1bn, will run until 2027, and it will see him overtake Toni Kroos and David Alaba as the club’s top earner.
Real Madrid hope to announce the new deal for Vinicius before the club’s next game in La Liga against Sevilla on October 21.
⚪️???????? Real Madrid are planning to re-schedule formal ceremony for Vinicius Jr contract extension as soon as the president Florentino Pérez tests negative to Covid.
