Victor Osimhen crowned 2023 CAF Men's Player of the Year

Napoli's forward, Victor Osimhen, has been honored with the title of 2023 CAF Men's Player of the Year, surpassing competitors Achraf Hakimi from Morocco and Egypt's Mohamed Salah.

This achievement marks Osimhen as the first Nigerian to clinch the award since Nwankwo Kanu secured the prestigious accolade in 1999. The recognition is a testament to Osimhen's outstanding contributions to football.

In a parallel celebration, Nigerian footballer Asisat Oshoala secured the Women's Player of the Year title for an unprecedented sixth time. Oshoala outshone contenders Thembi Klagtlana from South Africa and Zambia's Barbara Banda.

Adding to Nigeria's football triumph, Chiamaka Nnadozie, a goalkeeper for the Super Falcons, claimed the Women's Goalkeeper of the Year award. The Super Falcons themselves were acknowledged as the National Team of the Year.
