Bayern Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso has hinted at a possible return date for Victor Boniface following the striker's return from injury.

The 23-year-old sustained an adductor injury a few days before the African Cup of Nations in January.

The Nigerian striker underwent surgery after the injury and has been working on his recovery since.

He returned to full training on Monday, March 25 as revealed in a social media post by the club.

Speaking ahead of Leverkusen's semifinal clash against Fortuna Düsseldorf in the DFB Pokal, the former Liverpool and Real Madrid midfielder noted that Boniface is back in the squad and could feature for about 30 minutes.

“Boni is in the squad, I don’t know how long he can play. Not 90 minutes, maybe not 45, but maybe 30. He has completed a great rehab. He has a strong mentality and can’t wait to get back on the pitch.” Alonso stated.

Despite being sidelined for two months; Boniface remains the top scorer for the Bundesliga league leaders with 16 goals in 23 goals across all competitions.
