Victor Boniface: Super Eagles star names former Barcelona star as sports' role model

Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface has named former Barcelona star as his Sports role model in a recent interview.

The Nigerian international has been on the trend since the start of the 2023-24 season in Europe due to his blistering start.

After a wonderful season with Union SG in Belgium, he joined German Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen in the last summer transfer window.

The former Bodo/Glimt striker has since been rated as one of the best strikers in Europe alongside the likes of Harry Kane, Erling Haaland, Victor Osimhen, and others.

During an interview with UEFA TV as per Soccernet, Boniface named his sports role model, which happens to be former Barcelona forward Neymar Junior.

Interviewer asked:

"Sports role model."
Boniface answered:

"Neymar, for me."

Neymar is rated as one of the best players of his generation and was known for his great achievements with Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.

The former Santos forward was one of the players who dumped Europe football for the Saudi Pro League in the summer transfer window.

He also had a wonderful international career with the Brazil national team, as he recently broke Pele's record to become Selecao's all-time highest goalscorer.

Neymar and Boniface have a particularly similar style of play, as both players like to take on defenders and are dangerous in front of goal.
