United conquer Manchester after victory over City

Manchester United have defeated bitter rivals Manchester City to rule the Manchester derby on Sunday courtesy Anthony Martial's goal.

United remain unbeaten in ten matches after seeing off Pep Guardiola's men at Old Trafford as they keep the pressure on fourth-placed Chelsea.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men were the more threatening side in the first half and they made City pay by taking the lead in the 30th minute.

Bruno Fernandes spotted Anthony Martial after deciding to go for a pass rather than the initial freekick and the Frenchman made no mistake with a snapshot that beat Ederson.

City kept the pressure in the second half, gaining more possession with about 12-15 per cent of the action in the City 18, the rest were mostly at the United end and the midfield but they lacked the cutting edge to pull an equaliser.

It looked like United were going to take a 1-0 victory as their defenders were more composed than ever.

A well-controlled clearance and pass by Odion Ighalo picked up Fred who gifted the ball to Ederson after a City defender blocked.

The twist came when Ederson's misplaced pass was picked up by United's Scott McTomminay who slotted in the second with the City keeper already out of the goal.

United have now beaten Manchester City home and away this season after winning the first leg 2-1.
