UEL R32 Round-Up: Arsenal crash out, United, Inter, others progress

Last year's runner up, Arsenal, have crashed out of the Europa League after a shocking home defeat by Greek outfit, Olympiacos, who progressed on away goals after suffering a first-leg defeat.

Arsenal were halfway through to the UEL round of 16 after last week's 1-0 win away to the Greek club but things would however to against them after they conceded a a53rd minute goal.

Skipper, Aubameyang, scored a screamer in the 113th minute to cancel Cissé's opener as the game went into extra time.

Arsenal were almost certain they were on there on their way to the next round as the game draws to a close but Arteta's men were shocked in the 119th minute as El-Arabi put his team up by 2-1, ending the game 2-2 on aggregate.

Olympiacos progressed into the rounded of 16 on away goal rule.

While Arsenal bowed out of the competition, Manchester United decided against leaving the competition at this stage after thrashing Club Brugge 5-0 at Old Trafford.

Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring yet again for United with a PK in the 27th minute, Odion Ighalo followed with his first for the club sveen minutes kate, Acott McTomminay announced his return from injury with United;s third in the 41st nibute to end the first half.

United were not done as they kept pushing for more. They were rewarded with two more goal in the 82nd and 90th minutes as Fred got on the scoresheet twice to put United 5-0 (6-1 agg.).

Romelu Lukaku was on the scoresheet again as Inter Milan defeated Ludogerets 2-1 (4-1 agg.) at the San Siro stadium. The visitors first goal in the 26th minute by Couly Souza was not enough to scare Inter as Cristiano Biraghi and Lukaku's 32nd and 45th minute goals sealed the win for the Nerrazurri.

Celtic also bowed out of the competition after suffering a shocking 3-1 home defeat to FC Kobenhavn. Nichael Santos, Pep Biel and Dame N'Doye scored in the 51st, 85th and 88th minute respectively. Odsonne Eduardo'd equaliser was not enough for the home side. The game ended 3-1 (4-2 agg.)

After losing the first leg by 2-1, Benfica fought back to revive their chances of quallification by scoring three goal through Pizzi (9'), Ruben Dias (36'), and Rafa Silva (47'). However, Shakhtar Donetsk were unwwilling to bow out and their resilience paid off as they added two more to Ruben Dias' own goal in the 12th minute; Taras Stepanenko, 49', and Alan Patrick, 71', drew the away side level. Benfica bow out on aggregate of 5-4.

Ajax managed to defeat Getafe by two goals to one. Jamie Mata put the away side in front in the 5th minute but Danilo's 10th minute equaliser and Mathias Olivera's 63rd minute own goal gave the home side the win but it wasn't enough to see them thriugh as they already los 2-0 away to the Spaniards. They game ended 3-2 on aggregate.

german side Woldsburg were also heavy scores on the night as they thrashed Malmo FF 3-0 in front of the home fans. It ended 5-1 on aggregate.

LASSK defeated AZ Alkmaar by two goals to sepearate the teams who were inseperable in the first leg that ended in a 1-1 draw. LASK go through to the next round.

Turkish side, Istanbul Basakse also qualified for the next round by after defeating Sporting CP in a 4-1 thrashing. It was a tale of dramatic twist after Sporting who won the first leg by 3-1 crashed out.

Roma and Gent were inseparable asfter the refree blew the final whistle but the Italian side progressed having won the first leg at home by 1-0. The second leg ended 1-1.

Bayer Leverkusen shocjed Portuguese side, FC Porto by beating them 3-1 on their ground to send them packing. The first leg ended 2-1 at the ground of the German club.

Suprise of the season, Wolves, survived a scare by Spanish side, Espanyol, who beat them 3-2 in the second leg in Spain but their 4-0 win in England gave them the ticket to the next round.

Basel also secured their spot in the roound of 16 after beating APOEL by 1-0 to take the aggregate score to 4-0. APOEL were the only team to boww out of this year's round of 16 without a single goal.

Rangers secured their qualification on Wednesday night after defeating home side, Braga, by 1-0 to win the game 4-2 on aggregate.
