UEFA Champions League current standings after matchday two

UEFA Champions League title holders Paris Saint-Germain made a statement of intent in their bid to retain the title with a 4-2 victory over Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night.

Goals from Désiré Doué, Ousmane Dembélé and Vitinha put the French side 3-0 up inside 32 minutes, and a second-half fightback led by Erling Haaland’s brace was not enough for the hosts.

The two-time winners now top the league phase table with two wins from two games, level on points and goal difference with Barcelona and Aston Villa.

The perfect-record group also includes Stuttgart, Liverpool, Sporting Lisbon, Arsenal, Real Madrid and Real Betis.

Manchester City slipped to 17th place.

Roma, Inter, Porto, Napoli and Galatasaray are among the 12 teams currently in the elimination places after matchday two.

The top eight teams after the league phase will secure automatic qualification to the Round of 16.

Teams finishing from 9th to 24th will go into the knockout phase play-offs, while the bottom 12 are eliminated.
