Newly crowned African Player of the Year, Victor Osimhen ended his goal drought after finding the back of the net against Braga in the UEFA Champions League last night.

The 24-year-old scored the second goal in his side's 2-0 win at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium after Serdar Saactsi scored an own goal in the 9th minute.

It was Osimhen's first goal in this season's UEFA Champions League campaign. He managed 5 goals in total last season.

The Super Eagles striker also scored his first goal on his return from the hamstring injury he sustained while on national duty with the Super Eagles in October.

The 2-0 victory was enough to secure a place in the round of 16 for Walter Mazzarri's side.

This comes against the backdrop of Osimhen winning the 2023 African Player of the Year award in Marrakech, Morocco on Monday night.

He became the first Nigerian star to clinch the award since Nwankwo Kanu in 1999.
