Atlético Madrid manager Diego Pablo Simeone has shared his thoughts on Ademola Lookman’s performance following his side’s victory over Manchester United in the UEFA Champions League.

The Rojiblancos secured a crucial 2-0 victory over the Red Devils at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano on Tuesday night.

Pablo Barrios scored an early opener in the first minute after kick-off, before Ademola Lookman came off the bench to seal the victory in the 79th minute.

The goal was Lookman’s second of the season and his first in six matches for the club.

In his post-match reaction, El Cholo highlighted Lookman’s goal-scoring prowess and effectiveness in one-on-one situations as some of the qualities that make the Super Eagles star an important player for the team.

“He’s a very important player, possessing notably strong statistics, demonstrating consistent goal-scoring capability, and performing effectively in one-on-one confrontations,” Simeone said after the game.

Simeone, however, added that there was still room for improvement for the former African Footballer of the Year.

“He has not yet reached the stage where this manifests consistently. However, he has regained his scoring proficiency, demonstrated the instinct to follow the play, and the rebound proved advantageous. We secured the victory that was necessary,” he added.
