Super Eagles talisman Victor Osimhen failed to find the back of the net after coming up against Pau Cubarsí in Galatasaray’s UEFA Champions League clash with Barcelona on Tuesday night.
The young Spanish defender once again emerged the winner, as Barcelona came from a goal down to beat the Turkish champions 4-1 at RAMS Park.
Aleksey Batrakov gave the home side the lead in the 28th minute with a deflected effort after a move involving Rafael Leão.
Galatasaray appeared to double their lead soon after when Barış Alper Yılmaz’s deflected touch off Osimhen’s header ended up in the net, but a VAR check showed Yılmaz was offside and the goal was ruled out.
João Cancelo equalised for Hansi Flick’s side in the 43rd minute, on the stroke of half-time.
Fermín López and Anthony Gordon added further goals after the restart to give the Spanish champions a two-goal cushion, before substitute Karim Adeyemi sealed the win in the 66th minute.
Barcelona moved to six points from two games to maintain their perfect start to the Champions League campaign, while Galatasaray remain without a point.
Osimhen, 27, returned from a month-long injury layoff but was largely contained by Barcelona’s defence, with Cubarsí and Gerard Martín keeping him quiet and repeatedly catching him offside.
It was the second time in as many meetings that the 19-year-old had got the better of Osimhen in the Champions League.
