Nigeria's Flying Eagles soared high above their Argentina counterparts to beat the hosts 2-0 in Bueno Aires to qualify for the quarterfinals of the ongoing U-20 FIFA World Cup.

Goals from Ibrahim Muhammad and Haliru Sarki ensured that Ladan Bosso's side edge the South Americans at the Estadio San Juan.

Nigeria came into the tie as huge underdogs against the rampant hosts who won all three of their group-stage matches.

Despite enjoying home advantage, the young Argentines failed to find the back of the net despite their dominant display in the early stages of the game.

The Flying Eagles who looked more dangerous in attack capitalized on their chances by firing two goals past the hosts in the second half.

Speaking on his future after the game, former Barcelona and Liverpool defender, Javier Mascherano hinted that he will continue as coach of the U-2O team if the Argentine Football Association (AFA) believe he is fit for the role.

“I have a great relationship with Chiqui Tapia (AFA President). I will continue if they believe that I am good for this.

“He knows that he has my resignation at his desk every day. In the meantime, I am calm. At no time did I come back just for this World Cup? My idea is to continue.”

The Flying Eagles will face Ecuador or South Korea in the quarterfinals.
