The 2023 summer transfer window has been nothing short of eventful, with clubs like Arsenal going all out to sign their preferred players and others doing all it takes to get off their books players they have deemed as surplus to requirement.

While top British players have kept on smashing the records for transfer at their respective new clubs, Sports Brief takes a look at a list of the biggest signings of the summer so far.

Declan Rice (West Ham to Arsenal) – £100m plus £5m add-ons

Arsenal got their man after Manchester City withdrew from the race for the West Ham captain. In a deal many have valued to be a little over the top, Rice is expected to adjust near perfectly to life at the Emirates and overall adjust better to life than the club’s previous record signings.

Jude Bellingham (Borussia Dortmund to Real Madrid) – £88m plus £25.6m add-ons

Hey Jude!

A signing that has brought about the reminiscence of the famous song by the Beatles, Real Madrid have got their latest Galactico over the line.

Many have tipped the Bundesliga player of the season to become the best addition of any club this summer and judging by early signs, Bellingham appears to be quite a signing.

Kai Havertz (Chelsea to Arsenal) – £65m

Yet another top-quality signing for the Gunners.

Arsenal have visited another London rival to poach one of their rather unsettled stars.

Joining former teammate Jorginho six months after he moved to the Emirates, many have met the acquisition of Havertz by the Gunners with scepticism.

These sceptics can be blamed little given the poor showing of the Germans through last season. Mikel Arteta who is heavily trusted at the helm of affairs at Arsenal, is believed to know what he is doing and many have given him the benefit of the doubt regarding this signing.

Dominik Szoboszlai (Leipzig to Liverpool) – £60m

The Hungarians have made headlines for loads of reasons ranging from his audacious silencing of PSG’s Neymar to his iconic tattoos but one that many have never really paid attention to is the midfielder’s footballing ability.

Szoboszlai is one of the finest midfielders currently in Europe. With a style of play laced with finesse and precision, the Hungarian was able to wreak havoc through his stay at RB Leipzig.

Newcastle previously had a good old look but as Szoboszlai’s Leipzig release clause neared expiration, Liverpool signed the attacking midfielder within a few days of their firm interest being reported.

Mason Mount (Chelsea to Manchester United) – £55m plus £5m add-ons

In a move that came to the surprise of many, one of Chelsea’s most-priced academy products in recent years made the switch to Manchester.

With just one year left on the 24-year-old contract, the two-time Chelsea player of the season completed what is surely an audacious transfer to Chelsea’s rival.

Many expect Erik ten Haag to effectively maximise the potential of the young midfielder, returning him back to his glory days.
