Transfer expert Romano explains why Arsenal will not sign Osimhen

Transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano has shared insights into why Arsenal may not consider signing Victor Osimhen in the summer.

The Gunners are reportedly in the market for a new striker as Sporting Lisbon's Viktor Gyokeres has come up as an option Mikel Arteta is considering.

The London club has long been linked with a move for the reigning African Player of Year with their Premier League rivals Chelsea and Manchester United also reportedly interested.

Romano believes that the Gunners view Osimhen as too expensive and the club may potentially not meet the financial demands of Napoli.

“I’ve had some fans asking me about reports in Italy suggesting that Arsenal have cooled their interest in Victor Osimhen because he could be too expensive, or that they are concerned about entering into difficult and lengthy negotiations with Napoli,” he said in his daily briefing.

“Osimhen has always been appreciated, but many clubs are cautious now waiting to understand the salary/commission package, as there’s already a very expensive release clause to take into consideration.

“This is why Arsenal are looking at other strikers, including Viktor Gyokeres, who remains on their shortlist.”

Osimhen has a release clause of around £120-130 million following his contract extension with Napoli in December.
