Manchester City skipper Ilkay Gundogan has ruled out a possible return to his former club Borussia Dortmund this summer.

The German international's contract with the newly crowned European champions is due to expire this month and a possible departure from the Etihad Stadium is looking increasingly likely.

Speaking in a post-match interview after Germany's friendly against Columbia, the midfielder stated that a return to Signal Iduna is not in his plans.

“There was contact between Sebastian Kehl and my agent. I can say that. But it was not very likely.

“To return to the Bundesliga was not my plan, no decision yet talks are ongoing. You’ll be the first to know once a decision has been made.”

The 32-year-old was instrumental in Manchester City's historic treble-winning season.

He managed 11 goals and 7 assists in 51 appearances across all competitions for Pep Guardiola's side.

Meanwhile, Gundogan is reportedly fancy in a move to Spanish champions Barcelona as Pep Guardiola believes he will be an extraordinary signing for his boyhood club.
