Transfer: Barcelona wants Nigeria-eligible Chelsea star

Spanish giants Barcelona have renewed their interest in Chelsea star Carney Chukwuemeka.

The Catalans interest in the England U-21-star dates back to the summer of 2022 before Chukwuemeka from joined the Blues from Aston Villa.

Chukwuemeka has struggled to get game time under Mauricio Pochettino.

The 20-year-old has featured in just 9 Premier League appearances for the Blues this season.

If the two clubs are able to reach an agreement over a possible transfer, Chukwuemeka will compete with the likes of Ilkay Gundogan, Gavi, Pedri, Fermin Lopez, Sergi Roberto, Frenkie De Jong and Oroil Romeu in the Barca midfield.

The Blues intend to use the transfer fee to bolster their midfield options for next season.

Born to Nigerian parents in Austria, Chukwuemeka is eligible to feature for the Super Eagles at the international level.
