Former Super Eagles, Elderson Echiejile has described the feeling in the Team’s dressing room after the final blast of the whistle in their AFCON 2013 winning campaign in South Africa.

Narrating the event to Brila FM on the occasion of the 10th year anniversary of the triumph, he said “it is an unforgettable experience”, for him and the rest of the squad who made the dream possible.

“It was something the members of the team will never forget. We trained in Faro Portugal, we had to travel in batches because of chicken pox that hit the camp, and we had to motivate the team to go all the way.”

“Some of the players believed we could win and when the coach said we were going to win it we felt it was normal for him to say that.”

“when playing the tournament, you have to stay positive, so after the final whistle, we were all happy. The late Stephen Keshi was really happy with the team and we really celebrated.

“There are a lot of Nigerians in South Africa and it was as if we were in Nigeria, so many people in South Africa then joined us in celebrating the win.”
