One of the biggest hallmarks of any football club is winning trophies.

Across Europe, a number of clubs have been accustomed to winning titles through the years.

However, there are those who are yet to relive their glory days after going for years without lifting any title.

In England, Manchester United, Liverpool, and Chelsea have been some of the most dominant teams.

Barcelona and Real Madrid have literally been swapping the La Liga crown, while in the Bundesliga, no one comes close to Bayern Munich in terms of dominance.

Sports Brief takes a look at the top 10 European teams that have won the most trophies in the 21st century.

10. Liverpool (18 trophies)

The Reds may not have enjoyed as much success in recent years as they did in the past.

However, they have nonetheless gone on to lift 18 trophies since the turn of the century.

According to DAZN, Liverpool's most recent trophy was in 2022/23 when they lifted the Community Shield.

9. Inter Milan – 20 trophies

Inter Milan have won 20 trophies since 2000.

Six Serie A titles, an Italian Cup and the Italian Super Cup are among the trophies they have won.

The Italian giants came close to lifting the Champions League last season but lost the final to Manchester City.

8. Manchester City – 21 trophies

Much of Man City's success and dominance have come in recent years.

To put this into perspective, the Citizens have won five Premier League titles in just six years under Pep Guardiola.

City recently added to their tally when they won the UEFA Super Cup after stunning Sevilla in post-match penalties.

7. Juventus – 23 trophies

According to GiveMeSport, the Italian side have won an eyewatering 11 Serie A titles since 2000, making them one of the most dominant teams in the division.

They last lifted the trophy during the 2019/20 campaign.

6. Chelsea – 23 trophies

The Blues have won at least one trophy on average every year since 2000.

Five of the 23 trophies they have won during the period under review are Premier League crowns.

5. Manchester United – 25 trophies

Much of Man United's success since 2000 has come domestically, having secured just one Champions League trophy during the period.

They have lifted the Premier League on eight occasions, all under Sir Alex Ferguson, with their most recent triumph coming last season when they won the Carabao Cup.

4. Paris Saint-Germain – 34 trophies

Paris Saint Germain's dream of conquering Europe may have been elusive over the years.

However, domestically, they are doing just fine - having won a stunning 34 trophies since 2000.

3. Real Madrid – 36 trophies

Real Madrid are arguably one of the most successful clubs in Europe.

Los Blancos have enjoyed significant success across the board and currently hold the record for most Champions League titles won.

2. FC Barcelona – 37 trophies

Barca have one just one trophy more than their arch-rivals Real Madrid since 2000.

The Catalans have won four Champions League and 11 La Liga trophies during the period.

1. Bayern Munich - 48 trophies

And finally, on this list is Bayern Munich.

The Bundesliga giants have carted home an eyewatering 48 trophies since the turn of the new century.

Eighteen of the 48 trophies are Bundesliga titles.
