'The new face of Africa in the Bundesliga' - What popular sports journalist said about in-form Boniface

Popular sports journalist, Oma Akatugba has described in-form Super Eagles striker, Victor Boniface as the "new face of Africa in the Bundesliga".

Akatugba gave the appraisal following Boniface' fine form since he joined Bayer Leverkusen from Belgian Pro League Union St.Gilliose this summer.

He has been in red-hot form since he joined the Bundesliga.

The 22-year-old has scored two goals and provided one assist in two outings for Bayern Leverkusen in this month of August.

Boniface recently got a call-up to the Super Eagles ahead of their 2023 AFCON qualifier clash against Sao Tome and Principe.

"He means a lot to Nigeria. The new face of africa in the Bundesliga. Take a bow @boniface_jrn," Akatugba, who is based in Europe wrote about the forward.

Meanwhile, the striker has been nominated for the Bundesliga Rookie award for the month of August.

He was nominated alongside Leipzig’s Xavi Simon and Freiburg’s Noah Atubolu who is also a Nigerian-born goalkeeper.

Also, his brilliant first goal in Bayer Leverkusen’s 5-1 rout of Darmstadt over the weekend has been adjudged the best in the Bundesliga for matchday three.

The forward repeated his double-scoring feat of last week with another classy brace against Darmstadt.

The Nigerian collected a pass following a superb counter-attacking move and dribbled past two defenders before sending the ball into the net.
