Super Eagles and Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi has responded to a troll who described him as a flop.

Awoniyi joined Forest from Bundesliga side Union Berlin in the summer transfer window.

The Nigerian forward is in his second spell in the EPL after spending some time with Liverpool where he failed to make a first ta appearance.

In the Bundesliga, Awoniyi scored 25 times in 65 appearances. That prompted Forest to make a move for the forward in the summer just gone as they looked to build a squad to compete in the Premier League after promotion from the Championship.

However, his Forest stink has come under scrutiny as he has managed 5 goals in 19 appearances in all competitions for the club. He is currently sidelined with injury which is expected to keep him out for a while.

Awoniyi has now got involved in a debate over the Nigerian national team, for which he has four caps and one goal. The striker took exception to a comment from a user on Twitter, who claimed that he along with Kezmam, Claudio Pizzaro and Emmanuel Dennis have ‘flopped heavily’ in the Premier League.

“I hope some people can be well informed or educated on what’s football especially [Nigeria],” he wrote in reply.

“I believe it will help, so most people won’t just come here and just put up a tweet anyhow.

“Unfortunately the well educated also have sides and favoritism. That’s why will end up missing d [World] Cup.”

The Forest man then took his point to his Instagram stories where he again hit back at the criticism from his own country.

“The only country that have a problem with every transfer…has a say on most player, expert in all analysis and still miss the world stage. Is that not witchcraft,” he wrote.

“Maybe after all will even know less and thinks will know more.

“Instead of accepting will are actually falling behind will keep on sabotaging those you don’t even know how there journey started instead of been thankful of how hard they work to get to where each of them are now.
